Start the series of IMF-WB Annual Meeting 2018, Indonesia Minister of Finance opens Mural Exhibition


Jakarta – Seven months to IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting 2018 in Bali, National Secretariat Committee held a Mural exhibition titled Voyage to Indonesia. The exhibition was personally opened by the Indonesia Ministry of Finance Sri Mulyani.

In her speech she expressed, this exhibition wanted to show the world about diversity and tolerance commitment that Indonesia has.

“Not only Indonesia has a diverse idea, but a commitment to be unite by putting forward tolerance. Diversity is a beauty and a necessity so that we can be civilized people,” She said in Jusuf Anwar Building Ministry of Finance complex, Tuesday (13/3)

She adds, this exhibition will become one of the series of IMF-WB Annual Meeting that will be held in Bali in October 2018. In addition, the displayed in the mural exhibiton will be brought in to the Spring Meeting in Washington D.C in April.

“What we are doing this afternoon is one of the mural activity, which later the product will be sent to be displayed in the Spring Meeting in Washington D.C in World Bank and IMF building,” said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.

The best Minister in the world then continue, the exhibition that displays 14 canvas in different shapes that later will be displayed in the hallway which connecting the World Bank and the IMF in the Wall of Connectivity in the World Bank and IMF building. 

“We hope that VTI art exhibition with this mural art can provide Indonesia with the connection to the world,” she added.

Also present in the event respectively, Indonesia Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as the National Commitee IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting 2018, and also the Governor of Bank Indonesia Agus Martowardojo

This exhibition that curated by Amir Sidharata displaying the works of eight young Indonesian artist who are reliably good at working on mural. They came from many different social and cultural backgrounds, yet able to work together to make a great artwork full of meaning and visually festive.

They are Marishka Soekarna (@drawmama), Yudi Andhika (@theyellowdino), Widyatmiko (@tuyuloveme), Rizky Aditya Nugroho (@bujanganurban), Oldy Juralki (@olderplus), Adi Dharma (@stereoflow),Muchlis Fahri (@muklay), and Age Airlangga (@tutugraf).

“This artwork eventually shows how important diversity, cooperation, communication and tolerance in shaping and building a peaceful and prosperous society ,” says Amir.
