World Bank Report: in the Pacific Area, Indonesian Student still Three Years Behind

Jakarta – Indonesia World Bank launch their latest report about the education condition in Indonesia and other Asian Country. The report was delivered in an occasion filled with exposures and panel discussion, Thursday 15 March 2018 in Jakarta,

The report launch is held in event of Voyage to Indonesia which is part of the series of event approaching the IMF-WBG Annual Meetings 2018 in Nusa Dua, Bali, later in October.

In her speech, Program Leader World Bank Global Practice for Education Camilla Holmemo, stated that, Indonesia has shown an impressive progress in the education world.

“It show from the rate of the educate participant that was massively grown in the last 60 years,” She said.

She thinks that Indonesia has become one of the countries that are consistent in the success measures in the education world.

Meanwhile the report about the education condition in Indonesia and other Asian Countries has been delivered by the World Bank Economist Amer Hasan.

In that report explained, a quarter of children schools are in the East Asia and Pacific region. Most of them has experienced the education but haven’t had a proper learning process yet.

Actually, seven out of ten education systems that have a good performance in the world are placed in the East Asia and Pacific. Vietnam and China has a success notes in the education world but 60 percent of its students had a learning crisis.

In Cambodia and East Timor, more than 30 percent student the 2nd grade can’t read. Meanwhile Vietnam shows the opposite. Even learning with limitations but the implemented policy has brought success in its education.

Meanwhile Indonesia has allocated 20 percent of its national funds to the education world. But the student in the primary school only received a quarter of what the highly educated students had. Implications, the exam results of Indonesian students are three years behind their peers in the Asia Pacific region.

This report gave a series of practical recommendations to fix the primary policies in order to enhance the learning so that the student can get a proper basic skill. This is required to maintain the nation’s economic growth.

Vice President of World Bank for East Asia and Pacific said,” Providing a high quality education for all children, regarless where they were born, not only that is the right thing to do, but this also a strong Economical Foundation and the best way to stop and reverse the increasing inequality,”

These reports also mention a few concrete steps to fix the left out education system. Suppose that assuring the aligned of inter institution until the aim and responsibility that carried in the whole educational system become consistent one another.

There are four primary fields that were pushed forward to be done in this report. The four fields are effective and insightful public spending; student preparation for learning; teacher selection and support; also the utilized systematically assessment as the input to improve the teaching.

One of the important notes in this report is, the education system with the best performance will do the spending efficiently for the school infrastructure and teachers. They also have the recruitment process to assure that the best candidate will be interested to teach. Meanwhile, proper educational system will provide a salary structure that presents a reward to the teachers that proved they had a good performance in the class.

Overall, the World Bank report towards the education world in the East Asia and Pacific completed the last year report that found a conclusion that without teachings, education shall be fail to fulfill its promise to eradicate extreme poverty and create an opportunity and prosperity for us all.
