BMKG support Annual Meetings IMF-World Bank in Bali

Jakarta – the Annual Meetings IMF-World Bank Group 2018 in Bali get a support from the Indonesia Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The support was in form of weather prediction system based in district. This system allows information to be more detail in scale of time and space.

Becomes more detail because of the room scale which in the beginning was a region turn to district. This means, the weather in every single district in a region will be detected.

It also applied to the time scale, which in the beginning prediction time last for 3 days, now turn to 7 days ahead. Not only have that, the time limited for prediction which was in 6 hour now 3 hour.

This system was launched by BMKG in order to commemorate the 68th Meteorology Day, in Jakarta, Friday, 23 March yesterday. The Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati said, this system was launched in order to increase the public services.

“one of the effort from BMKG is to increase the digital based services and nationally integrated,” said Dwikorita, as quoted by, Friday (23/3)

As the early phase, this system will be implemented in four provinces, which Bali is one of them. This was meant to be the support from BMKG to the Annual Meetings that will be held on October in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Beside Bali, there is Jakarta and South Sumatera related to 18th Asian Games in those two cities, plus the South Sulawesi.

Dwikorita hoped that, the launch of the weather prediction system district based will help the disaster mitigation and the climate change impact to the people and government.

To the two international events which is Asian Games in Jakarta and South Sumatera, also the Annual Meetings in Bali, surely going to help the committee to predict the weather condition.

That aside, with BMKG being connected to the World Weather Information System (WWIS) under the coordination of World Meteorological Organization (WMO), will make the weather prediction in Indonesia territory to be accessed through the sites of the world meteorology institution.

In other words, it makes Indonesia connected to the global platform so it can be accessed from all over the world. It surely going to help a lot of parties, including the Annual Meetings National Committee.
